Many St. Louis experts in the field of cosmetic surgery applaud Botox cosmetic’s facial improvement capabilities. However, many cosmetic surgeons believe that this substance is best applied in the upper areas of the face. For the lower face, however, dermal filler is proven to be more effective in minimizing age lines, sagging facial skin, and wrinkles compared to other procedures.
Injectable fillers or dermal fillers works by filling up the space beneath the wrinkle line to lift the skin in that spot. By raising the skin, it has the immediate effect of making skin imperfections (such as nasolabial folds and facial creases) disappear since the skin along the crease lines is already elevated.
Brand of Dermal Fillers
Along with the skill of the St. Louis cosmetic surgeon, the brand of the cosmetic filler to be used on a patient’s face is equally important. At New Improved Body St. Louis, our professional cosmetic surgeons use three filling products for facial application: Restylane and Perlane, Juvaderm, and Radiesse.
Restylane and Perlane
Restylane is an injectable gel which adds fullness to the skin and corrects laugh lines, lipstick lines, and a variety of other facial flaws that a patient want to be corrected. Moreover, the same product may also be used to add definition and fullness to the lips. Flat lips may now be infused with this natural-looking hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to create full, pouty lips.
To avoid injection site reactions, cosmetic surgeons limit the amount of Restylane injection to 6ml for wrinkle correction and 1.5ml for lip enhancement. If this amount is deemed insufficient to achieve best results, follow-up treatments must be done.
Restylane is guaranteed safe and effective for the abovementioned procedures. It is also biocompatible so there is very little chance of getting an allergic reaction upon application of this gel filler.
Juvederm
Juvederm is a dermal filler product used by cosmetic surgeons to minimize or totally eliminate moderate wrinkles and fine lines in various parts of the face. Once injected, the patients sees instant and natural-looking results right after the initial treatment. Moreover, the results will last for up to a year, depending on how the body responds to the substance.
Individuals undergoing dermal filling procedures experience minimal pain during the treatment. Juvederm is formulated with lidocaine which reduces pain around the area where the substance is being injected. Slight soreness, pain, and other side effects may be felt up until a week after the treatment but this is usually negligible.
Radiesse
All dermal fillers work the same way: a filling substance such as hyaluronic acid is used to fill voids underneath the epidermis. By supplying the necessary volume, wrinkles and facial lines are removed or minimized. However, doing this is simply a band-aid solution and would only last for a couple of months before another dermal filling session is required.
What sets this product apart from the rest of the competition is that Radiesse does not only make wrinkles disappear, but it also stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen. This is what makes the skin soft, supple, and youthful. With Radiesse’s ability to stimulate collagen production, re-application of HA fillers are not required anymore as there is already a natural substance in the body that could provide the facial volume needed by the individual.
